OptoWork is currently a community run self-funded project created by an Optometrist.
The costs of creating the web-platform and maintenance for the first year (July 2025 to July 2026) have already been accounted for. This keeps it free, atleast for the initial launch to encourage sign ups.
OptoWork has opened up crowd funding via https://coff.ee/optowork Where you can all generously crowd fund what you feel is fair to help keep the platform free for longer.
Beyond the first year, OptoWork's terms and conditions allow for introduction of charges if needed and any practices joining after the Early Adopters Period will eventually have to pay to advertise their shifts.
Optoms/Staff who are part of the Early Adopters period (and maybe part of the union pending confirmation) will retain free access for life. So sign up and consider buying us a coffee to keep things free: https://coff.ee/optowork

Please double check your registered email inbox / spam /junk folders and search for "OptoWork" verification email.
Please click "verify my email address" and you will then be able to login and then upload your compliance documents.
If you cannot find the email or you're seeing "token invalid" please email admin@optowork.com or message Ali directly and we will get you sorted asap.
As we've had hundreds of optoms sign up in the last few days, it will take us a while to go through all the documents and ensure compliance is done perfectly. This is a critical step to keep the platform up to standards that shift providers expect.
At the same time we are also onboarding shift providers and have to ensure their consents are obtained for us to continuously advertise their shifts.
So it will take a few weeks before your documents are approved but we will automatically email you and you can then start booking shifts.
As of 22nd July we have a handful of independents and 1 (major) multiple director signed up. Shift providers and practices are currently testing the platform for us and themselves so it may be up to 3 months or so before shift bookings become fluid and consistent, maybe more maybe less.
Change takes time, we will get there slowly but surely, please be patient and bare with us! That being said, it can be as soon as today or tomorrow for you individually, if you can get your current shift providers (directors and managers) to sign up they will be able to book you via OptoWork - please admin@optowork.co.uk
